You are not lost; this is still traveling with mona’s blog and I’m still in the Philippines =). My nieces in Canada want to share their getaways to the places they have visited in Canada especially in Calgary and other neighboring cities in the province of Alberta

Anyhow, I told one of my nieces to start making her own blog but she just wanted to be a contributor of this blog. So this is her first share – Calgary zoo; I was amazed with all the animals here. I’m only looking at them in photos but i’m sure they are all beautiful and look like the zoo is well-maintained.

The zoo is divided into different areas and one of them is the African Savannah where the giraffes and the hippopotamus are located so as some other fishes.

Top Activities for Children Under 5 in London

London is one of the world’s most fantastic cities, and millions of people visit the capital to experience the diverse culture, great food and amazing entertainment of the UK’s tourist hub. Over ten million people live in London, meaning the London photo London_zpsce79fc07.jpegstreets are some of the busiest in Europe, but they’re also complemented by spectacular architecture and historic monuments everywhere you turn. Whether you’re looking to experience London on a ‘Boris Bike’, from the top of a tour bus on or foot, there are plenty of things to see and do; so much so that you won’t know where to start!

From Big Ben and the London Eye to the British Museum and the Houses of Parliament, London really is an oyster for tourists. One of the best things about London however is its appeal to small children, and parents have no need to worry when bringing their children to the capital, as there is a variety of entertainment for the young ones too!

There is no shortage of activities for toddlers to experience when visiting London, which is great news if you’re an active parent. Everywhere you turn you’ll be able to find something new to visit, and because most of the monuments in the capital are free to go in to, you’ll be able to save yourself some money as well. Let’s take a look at some of the top activities for children under 5 in London.

Playing In The City’s Parks

From Hyde Park to Victoria Park, London has some of the most stunning, open landscapes in the country, and they’re great places to take your young children. Not only will you be able to explore the playgrounds and green spaces, but many of the parks also have excellent transport links to tourist hotspots around the city. Why not start your tour of London’s parks with a visit to Kensington Palace’s Peter Pan Statue, or take your children to look at the beautiful horses at Hyde Park Stables.

And then there’s the Princess Diana Memorial playground – one of the most popular places for families to visit in the city. Not only can your children play in the sandpits, but there’s also a safe adventure area too, with swings and slides galore! If you’re looking for flights to London this summer, make sure you compare the best deals online.

See The Animals

If you love seeing animals up close, then you’re going to want to take your kids to London Zoo, the biggest Zoo in Europe! With hundreds of animals to see, and a variety of amazing petting areas, your children will love visiting one of London’s biggest and best attractions. From penguins and giraffes to gorillas and lions, you’ll be able to educate your children on all the different animals they’ll see throughout the day, and there are even some great restaurants to relax at while having a nice meal.

Once you’ve finished at the zoo, why not try the London Aquarium. Housing some of the biggest and best sea creatures from all over the world, take your kids down the transparent glass walkways and see amazing fish swimming all around you! is helpful if you’re planning to visit New York City

If given a chance to visit New York City …

Summer is here already in our part of the world. For sure many are already planning what to do or where to go. As for my family we don’t have definite place to visit but some members of the family suggested visiting the summer capital of our country. So, will see if this plan pushes through. If I will be asked I want to visit other nearby places because we went there many times. Well, I like the place because it’s beautiful and it’s chilly there but thinking how far the place about 6-8 hours drive makes me think twice. Still, I prefer to visit nearby places but still everyone in the family will enjoy.

Also, if given a chance, I will be willing to spend summer in other country. This is once in a lifetime opportunity so whether it’s near or far, for sure I will take it. There are many good places around the world to explore and enjoy; one of them in New York City. There are many good places and museums to enjoy in this city. Travelers in this place wouldn’t want to overlook Statue of Liberty, Empire of Liberty, Ellis Island Immigration Museum, American Museum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, Times Square and a lot more. Also, who wouldn’t want to enjoy their Broadway shows?

Philippines belongs to the top places to go in 2013

Good news for the Philippines because the hard work of Department of Tourism to promote our country has fruitful result. According to magazines in US and China our country Philippines belongs to the top places to go in 2013. New York Times selected 46 places to go in 2013 and our country was included. This is something to proud of because Philippines was #17 out of 46 places we even surpassed Italy at #18 and surprisingly Paris at #46.

According to them “Relaxing white sand beaches, secluded, little-known surf towns, and pristine reefs are among the natural draws of this country made up of over 7,000 tropical islands. Now in addition to the more upscale choices cropping up in former backpacking enclaves like Boracay, there is a new generation of luxury hotels opening even further afield. The new Dedon Island resort on Siargao, for example, is close to one of the world’s best surf breaks, Cloud 9 (Kelly Slater is a fan), and has an outdoor cinema along with spa and paddle board classes. And the private island resort of El Nido Pangulasian opens this month in the Unesco biosphere of Palawan, right by some of the world’s most pristine diving spots. Although the Philippines has been subject to travel advisories in the past, they mostly focus on Mindanao in the south. For extra security, outfitters like Asian expert Remote Lands organize private transfers and local guides. — Ondine Cohane”

While Chinese readers of Shanghai Morning Post chose the Philippines as the “Most Romantic Destination” in a consumer survey, prompting the newspaper to give the award to its Southeast Asian neighbour. Other country winners include: Other country-winners include:

* Australia as “The Best Tour Destination for Discovery”

* Switzerland as “The Best Shopping Paradise”

* Korea as “The Best Skiing Destination” and

*Germany as “The Best Destination for Art Appreciation”

How to do Vegas on a budget

Las Vegas usually inspires thoughts of expensive luxury and glamour and few people consider it a cheap destination for a holiday. At the very least, there is an expectation that the casino will swallow up a terrific amount of the funds.

In recent years, with the advent of Internet travel sites and airlines providing direct online flight bookings, the cost of flights has become increasingly competitive. Cheap flights are easily accessible, especially to destinations like the United States. Getting to Las Vegas cheaply has never been more possible as a result, particularly if you’re happy to travel mid week.

Cheap accommodation

Google Photo

If you’re travelling on a budget, you’re probably already aware that a suite at the Mandalay is not going to be on the agenda, but there are a host of other perfectly well-appointed hotels available to you at reduced costs. The casino-hotels are a great choice for cheap place to bed down for the night and will put you right at the heart of the gambling and entertainment action. The New Frontier, at the Northern end of the Sunset Strip, offers comfortable rooms with good amenities and a 100,000 square foot casino in-house. For something more family friendly, the Flamingo is a more old-school Vegas hotel with a wonderful pool complex and well appointed rooms.

To save even more bucks, venture away from the Strip and off the beaten track to a motor inn. The Downtowner Motel is a classic two storey motel just like those seen in the movies. The rooms are clean and comfortable and offer a relaxing stay away from the hectic night-life of Vegas and a very reasonably priced, leaving you with more money to indulge yourself in the clubs, bars and casinos.

Dining on a budget

It’s important to know the best budget places to eat in Las Vegas if you really want to save money. Of course many of the larger hotels offer all you can eat buffets, but the room costs reflect this.

To save the most money and soak up some of the vintage Vegas atmosphere, you’re better off heading down town. Downtown Vegas was the place to be in its heyday, but later gained a reputation as somewhere that was dangerous to venture into after dark. However, it’s making somewhat of a comeback. With a range of budget friendly ethnic restaurants and trendy dive-style bars to choose from, finding a purse friendly meal is not a problem.

You’ll also find several old-style Vegas hotels within walking distance of this area. The Golden Nugget offers cheap rooms and Main Street Station, with Buffalo Bill’s stagecoach parked right outside, has rooms for under $50. Talking of Buffalo Bill’s, his namesake hotel and resort is also a cheap place to stay, with a great breakfast buffet which can help to stave off the hangover from the cocktails of the night before.

Beware the extra charges

Many of the resorts, hotels and restaurants offer Happy Hour specials which can help you to save even more money and eat, drink and be merry on a shoestring.

Be warned, though. Many places charge resort fees and taxes which can add to your costs and visiting some of the fancier clubs and bars can see your evening subject to a cover charge, so include these in your budget if you really can’t resist.

Now hopefully you know how to save money on your stay in Vegas it’s time to save some money on your flights to USA by comparing some cheap flights. Post by Jamie Knop a travel blogger and writer from the UK.

Singapore here they come

This is the first time my mother will travel outside the Philippines. She was invited by my sister and her family to go with them for a short vacation in Singapore. Daughter wish to go with them but it’s possible because we don’t have money, hahah. And besides this is not the proper time because she has many activities in school. Another thing, we don’t have money to use. I have to work hard first online so we could afford traveling other country or even beautiful places in the Philippines.

Anyway, I hope my mother, sister and her family will have a wonderful vacation in Singapore. Hope they won’t forget our pasalubong (homecoming gift) hahah! Have a safe trip!

Quick Update:

It’s been 7 months since my mother and sister’s family visited Singapore. I forgot to update this post but mother had so many stories to share about Singapore. Some of the tourist spots in Singapore they enjoyed were Universal Studios, Marina Bay Sands, Sentosa and other popular tourist destinations in Singapore.

She mentioned that Singapore is really a clean country and this country prohibits littering. How I wish our country will also implement same thing. Anyhow, mother brought us some pasalubong; daughter and I got Singapore shirts.

Well after I heard positive things about Singapore, I was thinking if daughter and I will have a chance to visit that country or other Asian countries as well. I heard from a friend that FlightHub is offering cheap and affordable travel experience especially to Asian countries. Ok, I will check this site now and hopeful that I will get good deals from them.

Coming Soon to the NEC: Top Gear Live

After the hype of the summer has subsided, and the autumnal months loom over us like a raincloud, Top Gear Live! will return to the NEC in Birmingham to entertain their audience once again.

Between the 25th and 28th October, the humorous trio of Clarkson, Hammond and May will be joined by the tame racing driver, The Stig, in a live arena show to ensure a fantastic, memorable day out.

With a live track and an interactive exhibition, the show will only be visiting the NEC for the first time ever – no more stops anywhere in the UK. All the more reason to book some time off work and travel to Birmingham and not miss out, eh?

It promises to be the “biggest and boldest you have ever seen” and with the basic ticket price of a mere £20, there’s packages to suit every budget. Bear in mind that the cheapest tickets do have a restricted view and you won’t be able to see all aspects of the stage. It may affect your ability to appreciate the entire show as much as you would if you were to treat yourself, by upgrading to a more expensive package. For £99 plus booking fee, you can get the ultimate ticket – the platinum – which includes one of the best seats, access to the exhibition, exclusive access to the Platinum Lounge, an Arena Paddock tour and some awesome merchandise.

Get up close and personal with the hosts of the hit BBC show. Be entertained with the unedited, uncensored debates that the presenters will inevitably partake in. Admire some of the most expensive cars in the world as they arrive in the arena and watch the stunt drivers perform for your viewing pleasure.

Action packed, fun filled entertainment in the heart of Birmingham. Go all out – book cheap hotel near the NEC and make a night of it.
