Greatest Saxophonist of All-time

Feeling sentimental on my birthday hahah. Yah, today is my birthday but I don’t have celebration. I’m here in the room listening to music, once in awhile it’s nice to listen to music with just saxophone playing. Do you have your all-time favorite saxophonist? Me, I like Kenny G. Listening to him playing saxophone makes me feel relax. I’m not sure what kind of Meyer he is using but he really has the talent to play this instrument. In fact, he is the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era and said to be one of the best-selling artists of all time. He has reached global sales of more than 75 million records.

Pahiyas Festival 2015

Last May 15, we went to Lucban, Quezon for Pahiyas Festival. We didn’t explore the place much because we just stayed for almost 3 hours. I thought we will witness the grand parade but need to leave the place as soon as possible. My sister planned was to be there for a short time because she has another place to visit that day.Oh well, she has the car, hahah!

The time wasn’t enough but good thing we experienced Pahiyas Festival even for a short time. Lucban, Quezon is near to our place I think about 30 minutes from Lucena but we don’t really visit the place during Pahiyas. So it’s good thing to see the festival this year. There were many people attended the festival. I saw many foreigners enjoying the festival and fellow Filipinos from other places.

Here are some photos I have taken at Lucban, Quezon Pahiyas Festival 2015

Lucban, Quezon Pahiyas Festival

Today Lucban, Quezon is celebrating the annual Pahiyas Festival. This is a celebration in honor of St. Isidore, the patron saint of farmers. The festival showcases houses decorated with colorful “kiping” and farm produce such as fruits, plants, rice and vegetables. This is their way of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvests.

Bridge Pickup

I saw these words bridge pickup> and thought it is related to bridge. The latter I’m referring is the structure that one across the river, surprisingly it’s not.  My first time to know that there is also thing like this in a musical instruments like guitar. Well, sounds new to me but I’m sure not new to others who really appreciates music and instruments. I want to introduce music or instruments like guitar to my daughter though I’m not competent to do so. I believe encouraging her at an early age will be a great help for her to appreciate music at young age.

Amazing Show @ Manila Film Center

Last February 5, 2015, my daughter joined school field trip for the second time. The first one was during her kinder days. She enjoyed the first field trip, reason why she wanted to join again. Since she’s only in grade 1, I need to go with her. Four places were included in the trip; Amazing Show, Yexel Toy Museum, MMDA and Enchanted Kingdom.

Amazing Show said to be the first theatrical variety show in the Philippines. They feature wholesome family entertainment from young to old audiences. Normally, an hour show that features Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Indian production numbers, Broadway and Off Broadway musicales, Philippine Traditional dances, comedy, modern acts and other performances that viewers will surely entertain.

When we visited Amazing show, they prepared five different performances.
1. Sand Art
2. POI Dance
3. Face Mask Changing
4. Laser Legacy Dance
5. Tron Dance

My daughter and I enjoyed the whole program; sadly they prohibited to take pictures or videos while the show is going on. They only allowed taking pictures after the show.

The first on the line was sand art. I think, I first saw sand art on Showtime. One of the contestants performed this kind of art and admired the performance. Now, I personally saw how this sand art performs. Usually, sand art interprets one particular song. Since pictures and videos were not allowed I didn’t remember all the songs interpreted. I can’t even write notes because it was dark inside.

What I remember, the performer showed first the beauty of the world, later on it became polluted and damaged because of the wrongdoings of people. Lastly, the performer interpreted “Heal the World” by Michael Jackson. The performer did a great job and looks handsome as well.

POI Dance – Based on what I researched, this kind of dance was used many years ago by the native Maori people of New Zealand. This kind of dance performs to increase flexibility and strength in hands and arms as well as improving coordination. POI dance used balls attached to flax strings. In what we saw, they used balls with LED light and attached to strings.

Face Mask Changing – Its like magic. The performer changes masks quickly while dancing with dramatic music. With just swipe of fun, a movement of head and wave of the hand, the performer easily change his mask into something new.

After these three performances, the children allowed to go to the stage and let them tried sand art and POI dance. My daughter tried both.

On the second part of the program, the performers showed Laser Legacy Dance and Tron Dance. I didn’t enjoyed Laser Legacy dance that much and find it boring while Tron dance was fun. Both are using LED light and provide an amazing visual impact of lights that are surprisingly amusing because of its different approach in the choreographic movement.

Star Scout and Kab Scout Investiture

Tomorrow is the investiture of Star Scout and Kab Scout in my daughter’s school. My daughter is part of this activity for being a first time star scout. I don’t have anything in mind how the activity will take place. I only heard from my daughter that the other day they went to gym to have a practice regarding this activity. She didn’t mention anything or what they practiced. Every time there is program in school and I’m asking what they are going to do. She always telling me to just wait for the day and see for myself because it’s a surprise. Anyhow, I hope GC + ATH will be cleared. If I’m not mistaken this one is microphone, it’s always better to use microphone that has clear sound.

School Field Trip

There is no definite date, but I heard from other moms that by February, the students will be having a school field trip. Since my daughter is only in grade one, parent/s also need to join the trip. My daughter was a transferee in her current school. Old parent I have talked, said field trip in my daughter’s school happening every two years. And this is the year of the school field trip. I wonder the places to visit this time, but I heard the last field trip went to Ocean Park, Enchanted Kingdom and I guess other places aside from these two. My daughter wants to join the trip but I will know first the places to be visited and how much to join the school trip.

If my daughter will join the trip, this is her second time to join this activity. The first one when she was in Kinder 1. They went to Hacienda Macalauan in Laguna, Museo Pambata, Manila Zoo and leisure time in one of the malls in Alabang. She was very happy, I think this is the reason why she wants to join the school field trip again.

DJ Equipment

I admire those DJs hanging around in the DJ photo dj-equipment-buying-guide-768x323_zps1a5d408d.jpgclub. I’m not a party goer and not really witness how a DJ works. I only see them when watching television. For me they are the one who  makes the night so lively. Everyone in the club is having a nice time because of the songs and how these DJs transform one particular song into a blast. And because I’m not into club or disco houses, I wonder if I could experience it in the house. Christmas is approaching and everyone would love to have a party. So what dj equipment do I need?  We could act as DJ even at home.
