Another late post. We stayed 2 days in Manila since we don’t have house or condo there we stayed at Millenia Suites located in Ortigas. My brother-in-law is currently working in Alabang so he was the one called for a reservation in this hotel. We shopped in Divisoria first and after hours of walking and looking for good items we decided to check the hotel. The kids wanted to visit Star City before going to the hotel but everyone was tired already so the plan didn’t push through.
In the hotel, the guard assisted us going to parking area but ended up in basement parking area. Everyone was so disappointed because the area was too smelly (canal odor).
We stayed in the van and waited for my brother-in-law to settle everything. When we had the key we quickly go inside because of the smell. Our room is like a condo type which has small living room, 2 bedroom, 2 shower rooms, dining area and kitchen. It has 2 flat screen televisions; one in the living room and the other one in master bedroom. We were on 29th floor almost on top because the hotel has 36th floor (if my memory is right).
We already had our dinner before going to the hotel so after some souvenir photos in our room we decided to sleep early and beside were tired because of almost whole day of walking and shopping.
The following day I was expecting complimentary breakfast (which I experienced in all the hotels I stayed before) but my brother-in-law said it’s not included. So we just had coffee and bread that we brought last night.
Millenia suites has 2 swimming pools. It’s not big but enough for the kids and young at heart to enjoy the water. So before checking out Millenia, my daughter and her cousins first enjoyed the water. Daughter enjoyed the water though she doesn’t know how to swim. After the kids enjoyed the pool and everyone was already took a bath we decided to check out. It’s sad that we didn’t enjoy their food and the rest of the facilities but there’s always a second time.
By the way, our night experienced in Millenia Suites cost Php 6,200 (not exact but close) and for me the amount is fine because the family stayed in one room; 10 adults and 2 kids. The only bad feedback was the smelly thing in the basement area and I wouldn’t complain in the complimentary food if that’s their policy.
Many times I’m waiting for my daughter outside the school till she finished her class. There are two places wherein parents and guardians are allowed to stay in the school while waiting for the kids. I don’t stay there instead staying in a food store besides the school; actually the food store is a house itself. Anyway, one day while talking to the employee of the said food store, a man came and asking for u bolts. I’m not familiar with this tool but I learned from the employee that her manager was currently having a project at the back of the house. Well, I didn’t ask for more and just returned to what we were talking earlier.

I used to manage internet shop of my sister way back. She has almost 15 units and the entire monitor used was the old type so it’s bulky unlike today. I think this kind of monitor consumed much electricity and of course large space. Well, for almost 5 years I was away from stress in all the customers ;).
Anyway, I shared to my other blog that I had a problem with my internet connection for a week. So, for me to do my tasks online I need to visit internet shop. I’m surprised to see that almost all the shop I had rented didn’t use bulky monitor instead used of flat screen monitor. It’s good to know monitors are not put in the table anymore. This way kids won’t move the monitor back and forth.
Well, it’s good to know the changes but I hope the computer owners should also considering the use of well-built monitor mount to ensure the toughness of the monitor on the wall so no problem might occur.
Another late post!
Divisoria is one shopping place in Manila that is known for cheap finds of all items you need. And every time I heard shopping in Divisoria is fun, enjoyable and cheap. Well, I guess it’s true. So sad because we seldom visit the place cause we are 4 hours away from Manila. I can’t remember the last time I went to Divisoria but for sure it was long time ago.
Anyway, at last after so many years we went to Divisoria again. We left our place (Lucena) around 9am. We knew that we will arrive in the afternoon
already so the family decided to stay in Manila for 2 days. We stayed in the Hotel (will blog it separately). Going back to Divisoria we arrived late in the afternoon well indeed shopping there is fun because almost all of our needs are there, enjoyable because you got to see many items on sale and most importantly they are cheap. The family enjoys our bonding in this shopping place.
Time runs quickly so we decided to go to the Hotel (Millennia) were my brother-in-law had reservation. My nieces wanted to visit Star City but everyone was tired already. So we just stayed at the hotel and sleep right away.
Second day in Manila. My daughter and her cousins enjoyed hotel’s swimming pool for more than 1 hour. Then we headed to Greenhills and ate our lunch. We also shopped for a short time and went back to Divisoria. Our first day in Divisoria wasn’t enough because as I said we arrived late in the afternoon already. Actually before going to Manila the initial planned was Divisoria, Star City, hotel and Green Hills Shopping Center. Then we thought of going back early to our place (Lucena) and have stop over in Isdaan to eat our lunch but it didn’t happen.
Well, at least we enjoyed our shopping in Divisoria and our 2 days of shopping wasn’t enough (really). Going back here in the near future is not possible so we shopped to the fullest. Sigh, if only Divisoria is near in our place for sure this is my shopping place all the time. Well, till our next visit to Divisoria hope so …
It’s really hot in our place; I guess summer is already here. Sounds like I should be ready in summer getaway. Last time the family went to Cebu and Bohol. In the latter we enjoyed floating restaurant wherein the guests cruise Loboc River. There were also sumptuous foods that these floating restaurants have in store for all the guests. The guests also serenaded by the band and play a variety of songs and requested songs asked by the guests.
It’s been a year since we experienced this floating restaurant but still I remember the voice of the female vocalist. Her voice is like an angel and so relaxing. Aside from the powerful voice of the lead singer the member of the band were using different instruments but I wasn’t familiar with them. I don’t even know if jazz guitar has been used. Anyway, I hope to visit Bohol again because we enjoyed this place for just short period of time.
Another overdue post. This was our second time visiting Isdaan at Calauan, Laguna. We enjoyed the first time because we explored almost all the corner of Isdaan but second time experienced was completely different. We shopped first some footwear in Liliw, Laguna then we decided to treat my niece in Isdaan. She just came back here in the Philippines for a short vacation from Canada. It was her first time to visit the place, the first time that the family went here my niece was already in Canada. She saw our photos in Isdaan so she wanted to experience the place and food as well.
Sadly when we were near the place rain started to pour. Since we were there already so we didn’t think of going back and just thought that rains will stop but sadly it didn’t stop until we left the place.
My niece was really disappointed so she just enjoyed the food. We ordered Grilled pork ribs, grilled tilapia, beef sinigang soup, eggplant, famous pancit (not in the photos), Ensaladang mangga, rice and dessert (no photo). For a not picky eater like me, these Isdaan foods tasted good.
Photos were taken in Greenhills. I shared in my previous post that we went to Manila to fetch my niece in the airport. Since her arrival was late at night we visited Greenhills first.
While shopping and roaming around the store, daughter saw this ice cream store. I decided to buy one for her because the idea of this ice cream is new to us. Unlike the usual ice cream in cone this ice cream is put in barquillos. Barquillos en sorbetes cost Php 25 well it’s expensive (for me) but the experience of trying new is remarkable.
These photos were taken last December 28 at NAIA Terminal 2, when we were waiting for my niece to arrive all the way from Canada. This was already past 10pm but still the energy of these kids was there. Anyhow, this was my niece first vacation in the Philippines after they migrated in Canada two years ago.
Anyway, niece arrival was 10pm but it’s almost 10.30 and she didn’t show up in Terminal 2. My brother-in-law checked the monitor TV to see airlines already arrived but he didn’t see my niece flight. So he advised us to go to Terminal 1, good thing it’s near and no traffic already. At Terminal 1 we looked at the flight scheduled and saw my niece flight there. So we were waiting at Terminal 2 for nothing. We saw my niece right away and told us that Terminal 2 was really written on her itinerary anyway the important thing is she was with us already.
Almost 2 years in Canada my niece gains weight but not totally fat just gain some weight because way back here she was thin. We decided to go home because it’s almost midnight but before going home my niece bought first chocolate in Duty Free. She didn’t have the chance to buy in Canada because as she said, she was too busy on her work. After she bought chocolates we then decided to go home. We had stopped over in one of the stores of Jollibee. She misses this fast food store a lot because there’s no Jollibee in Calgary but she said there’s one in Toronto (if I’m not mistaken).
Well, as I am writing this post niece already in Canada. This should be written before but I’m too busy with my offline tasks so haven’t shouted on this blog. And there were days I was going out with my niece. Niece only here for short vacation, 21 days to be exact and last Saturday she went back to Canada. Last Sunday she left a message on Facebook saying she arrived safely in Canada, thanks God and till your next visit … God bless!
Good news for the Philippines because the hard work of Department of Tourism to promote our country has fruitful result. According to magazines in US and China our country Philippines belongs to the top places to go in 2013. New York Times selected 46 places to go in 2013 and our country was included. This is something to proud of because Philippines was #17 out of 46 places we even surpassed Italy at #18 and surprisingly Paris at #46.
According to them “Relaxing white sand beaches, secluded, little-known surf towns, and pristine reefs are among the natural draws of this country made up of over 7,000 tropical islands. Now in addition to the more upscale choices cropping up in former backpacking enclaves like Boracay, there is a new generation of luxury hotels opening even further afield. The new Dedon Island resort on Siargao, for example, is close to one of the world’s best surf breaks, Cloud 9 (Kelly Slater is a fan), and has an outdoor cinema along with spa and paddle board classes. And the private island resort of El Nido Pangulasian opens this month in the Unesco biosphere of Palawan, right by some of the world’s most pristine diving spots. Although the Philippines has been subject to travel advisories in the past, they mostly focus on Mindanao in the south. For extra security, outfitters like Asian expert Remote Lands organize private transfers and local guides. — Ondine Cohane”
While Chinese readers of Shanghai Morning Post chose the Philippines as the “Most Romantic Destination” in a consumer survey, prompting the newspaper to give the award to its Southeast Asian neighbour. Other country winners include: Other country-winners include:
